Last Season: 5-23 overall, 3-13 Patriot League
Academic All-Patriot League: Hailey Stout
Matches of Note:
* (Aug. 26) – Bucknell 3, Fairleigh Dickinson 0 – Stout tallied 10 kills and eight digs to help the Bison shut out the Knights in the opening match of the Bucknell Tournament at Davis Gym. The Bison won despite starting three freshmen in the first match of the season.
* (Oct. 1) – Bucknell 3, Lafayette 0 – The Bison shut out the Leopards to pick up their first league win of the season. Sophomore Blake Buchholz led the way with 12 kills and nine digs.
* (Oct. 8) – Bucknell 3, Loyola 1 – Bucknell made it back-to-back league wins with a 3-1 win on the road against Loyola. Freshmen Sophie Bullard and Brooke Stark tallied four aces apiece while the Bison finished with 10 overall.
* (Oct. 28) – Bucknell 3, Lehigh 1 – Behind 14 kills and eight blocks from freshman Bridgette Holland, Bucknell beat Lehigh for the first time since 2012. The Bison dropped the first set but rallied to win three straight to upset the Mountain Hawks.
Looking Ahead to 2017: Bucknell looks to get back on the upward trend it was on two seasons ago when it finished just one spot in the standings from making the Patriot League Tournament. In addition to the return of a senior leader in Hailey Stout, who was a team captain as a junior, the Bison have a plethora of players that shined as some of the top young players in the league in the past two seasons. Blake Buchholz was a two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week as a freshman in 2015, while Bridgette Holland and Mimi Richards combined to win the award three times in 2016. The Bison defeated Lehigh for the first time in four years last season and beat Navy for the first time in five years and Army West Point for the first time in nine years two seasons ago. Consistency will be the key to making a run to the postseason this year.
Season/Home Opener: Aug. 25 vs. La Salle (6:30 p.m.)
